NickdeBruyne: Oh and I'm a complete idiot for thinking that for a game released for Mac, my mac would be powerful enough to complete its installation 57 minutes ago from Chromed Bird
NickdeBruyne: The issue I had was that the patch refused to complete. The commenters are telling me I'm a fool for trying to run it on high settings. 59 minutes ago from Chromed Bird

Joystiq has gotten their grubby paws on the PlayStation Move at GDC and has taken pictures from every angle possible.
Most of them are pretty standard stuff but this one really has me baffled.
We can see the standard USB port for charging and what looks like clip holes for possibly adding something onto the bottom and then a weird little port labelled “EXT”.
Does anyone have any idea what that will be used for? Surely for any controller add-ons they could just use the USB port?
Nah, the sub-controller connects to the console wirelessly.
It’s some sort of future proofing, although why the usb port couldn;t be used for that is beyond my reckoning. Maybe they opted to not use the usb port for proprietary reasons.
My best guess would be: It’s to ensure that “cleva” people don’t try and plug the extention unit into their already exiting usb dualshock controllers, LOL
I would think that it is used to connect it to some sort of other device turning it into a “gun” or “racket” with its own set of buttons for easier playability. /guess

Is it not to connect the two piece together? I.e. Right hand to Left hand?
Ps the controller is hideously ugly!

Not sure. But I once heard very useful advice from a lady friend: “ASK before you poke..”

According to independent research it is a well known FACT that this is supposed to connect to a light saber

Maybe its for screwing in another one of those light bulb things on top… just because a double sided light-bulby thing would be quite cool to have :)

Once again, the standard mini 5p usb port is for charging.

Couldn’t it be for a nunchuck type peripheral?

The PS Move has a nunchuck-esque accessory called the sub-controller. It connects to the console wirelessly however.
