Kalahari.net

It seems to be a constant thing this around here, we offer up awesome prizes thanks to fantastic companies like kalahari.net. You all enter in the safe knowledge that I will announce the winner when I say I will and then nothing…

So once again apologies all round for the delayed announcement of who the lucky winners of the kalahari.net competition were, this time I will happily blame Larry* for the delay…

But lets move past that for now and say a big congratulations to

Kinect on course to be “biggest pre-order to date” – also video of hot Asian models placing Dance Central included You Really Care

Dance Central

Admit it you are here to see the hot Asian models playing Dance Central and don’t really care about the real news that Kinect is reportedly on course to become the biggest pre-order gaming item to date in the UK?

Well first things first, UK retailers are reporting far higher than expected interest in Microsoft’s upcoming Kinect and have reported that they fell the price is appropriate for the product.

There really isn’t much to say about these, they are screenshots from the upcoming Kinect sports which show your avatar partaking in a variety of sporting activities and that’s about it…

Oh they have legs as well, which is something our E3 rep was quick to point out.

Halo Reach: “The Battle Begins” Trailer Contains Traces of Awesome HaloReachBattleBegins Lazygamer

Just yesterday, a teensy weensy little trailer by some small little company named Bungie managed to just make it into the video section of our In Other News post at the end of the day. It is however, worth a little more than a link at the bottom of a post, as you will see.

The trailer is titled The Battle Begins and shows off a lot of just how epic Bungie intends their final Halo game to be. Huge battle scenes, check. Space combat, check. Gorgeous shots of soldiers looking over ravaged cityscapes, that’s a check.

Hit the jump for the full trailer.

Blacklight: Tango Down – Review You Really Care

Blacklight: Tango Down Review BlacklightReview Lazygamer

Blacklight: Tango Down has arrived on the downloadable scene as the first attempt to offer a solid online shooter on consoles since Battlefield 1943 came out last year.

Published by Ignition Entertainment and developed by Zombie Games, Blacklight: Tango Down is described by its creators as a mixture of Call of Duty and Blade Runner. That sure sounds interesting, but how does it actually play once the megabytes are downloaded and the start button is hit.

Hit the jump for our full review.

Flamebait Friday Debate / Editorial: Starcraft 2 Is A Shining Example Of Why I Stopped Playing PC Games FFDsc2 Lazygamer

You would expect this to be one of those usual PC gaming vs console gaming debates, but today’s debate is a little different, because I have a lot of moaning to do.

You see, here’s my story in a nutshell. Starcraft 2 is one of the biggest games to be released this decade, and I would quite like to play it. A review copy is on its way to us, but I wanted to find out if my laptop was good enough to review it so that I could either a:) do that or b:) send it on to another reviewer with a better PC.

It’s been a day since I first installed the full game with a trial code and after a lot of work and effort, I still haven’t been able to get it to work.

Behind The Scenes: Creating the soundtrack for Red Dead Redemption

Behind The Scenes: Creating the soundtrack for Red Dead Redemption TommyMorgan thumb Lazygamer

If we ever think about what goes on behind the scenes of developing a videogame very few of us envision anything more than an army of sun starved coders slaving away behind a mountain of Red Bull and Pizza.

But while that may be a reality for parts of the game these things are so big now that there is a lot more to it, for example the soundtracks in games aren’t created by sun starved coders and in Red Dead Redemption in particular they seemed to have resurrected some honest to goodness cowboys to give it some authenticity.

Kane & Lynch comic book art Header2 Lazygamer

It’s been a while since I read any comic books, or graphic novels if you prefer, so I don’t really know much about what is expected from one these days.

However I am interested in the upcoming Kane & Lynch and the idea of releasing a comic book at the same time, while not entirely original, is a nice touch to help immerse yourself in their world.

Take a look at the released artwork below…

Sony announces UK Move pricing… no local pricing just yet You Really Care
Gavin Mannion   July 30th, 2010  clock image  6:30 am

PlayStation Move

I don’t know if it’s being done on purpose or not but the longer the local guys take to announce the Move pricing the better it will look. Everyone is still up in arms about the R1999 price tag that was slapped on the Kinect and the longer they think about it the more upset they get.

So with that in mind lets look at the recently released British PS Move pricing.

I Would Like To Announce An Announcement For An Announcement Nintendo3DS Lazygamer

These are just my favourite pieces of news, really. In this world of internets, and Twitters, Facebooks and YouTubes, the world has become a really connected place, where a lot of hype can be generated over a short span of time.

Nintendo have announced to Bloomberg, that they will announce the release date and price of the Nintendo 3DS on September 29.

Maybe they should have countrywide midnight announcements at the games stores, we can all gather in anticipation to hear news. What is interesting though is that announcement will not take place at the Tokyo Game Show.

Gears of War 3 Trailer (Unofficial) Getting There
Gavin Mannion   July 29th, 2010  clock image  2:30 pm

Gears of War

If nothing else I hope this shows Epic that the fans out there are desperate for some more news around Gears of War 3.

So desperate in fact that they have decided to create their own Gears of War 3 trailer shot entirely using a PC mod on top of Gears of War 1.

If you are remotely interested in Gears you have to watch this and for those who don’t understand the charm of the Gears story then this may help you understand.

Xbox 360 S

According to the latest official sales figures from Sony and Microsoft we can see that the PS3 was about to overtake the 360 in worldwide sales before the release of the new Xbox 360 redesign.

A couple of week back Microsoft announced that it had shipped (sold) 41.7 million Xbox 360’s worldwide and now Sony has come out and stated that their worldwide sales  (shipped) are 38.1… just 3.6 million behind the Xbox 360.

Vanquish gets n00b Mode Vanquish1 Lazygamer

Suck at games? Vanquish might be the game for you.

Vanquish, the stylish, frantic, and quite frankly, insane shooter from Platinum Games will be getting a new difficulty mode, known as “Casual Auto”. Like the developer’s last game, Bayonetta, Vanquish will still be fun for people who’re less adept with a controller.
